Why A Fundraiser?
Binet and Mary Guirand met in Côtes-de-Fer, Haiti, in 2017 and soon began a relationship. Binet later applied for a U.S. visa, and after several years of waiting, it was approved, allowing him to move to the United States.
In 2023, Binet and Mary were married, and Binet applied for a Permanent Residency Card so he could live in the U.S. permanently. In May 2025, they celebrated the birth of their beautiful daughter, Malaika.
A few months before their daughter was born, Binet received a letter from the US Immigration Services stating that he would likely need to leave the US and return to Haiti, even though his green card application was pending and would likely be approved.
Binet began making plans to build a house in his hometown of Côtes-de-Fer since he and his family would not have a place to live if they had to return to Haiti. Binet owns a plot of land there and has been gathering materials to build a house but needs more funds to get the project underway and the house built. This fundraiser is to raise the additional funds needed to build the house quickly.
